Hi. First time on Any forum basically functional computer illiterate. My name is Arni. This year I decided to repair a number of watches left in an old bag for about 40 years. Some were pkup by my father in law, some my dads. My 31 son has started his watch collection so they are now his. There were 11 watches, one of them a black dial navitimer 806 with breitling geneve with logo on dial. Although I know tech people at rolex, it never really occured to me to call them. I gave it to my repairperson and got good quotes for all the watches for the breitling it was $495. I was shocked since this one was equal to 3 other repairs. I was never attracted to the breitling. It never worked and looked gauche. But I said yes. Oh my. I reseived it back 8 weeks ago. We all heard grampas watch for the first time in 40 years. I wore for 2weeks to test drive it. Read an article from your forum and my enchantment began. Saw we needed a breitling band made calls and took it to breitling,no original lizard bands available. I mentioned the story to them and said I didnt know if chrono buttons were resetting properly. They said leave it with us for a few days I said one week I will pk it up. They mentioned a complete overhaul would be 6 -700 $. I call back one week later to pkup and lo I am told the watch has been sent to Switzerland. Nice to be informed.Three weeks later I get an estimate email for $3500. Well my brother has a tudor so I didnt stroke at the price. I declined their estimate and asked them to expedite its return asap. The shocking part was they no not return any replaced parts and want 10 -12 Months to effect this overhaul with the right to readjust pricing just in case. It arrived back and father and son pkup our watch today. I respectfully asked my son for another test drive. I have 1 year warranty from previous repair so I will let him check chrono. I remain obcessed with the concept of time and I have always loved my personel watch. But this watch is different, something special. I just went downstairs and told her how much I love her dads watch. How special it made me feel to wear it. Got 2 daughters they get all of moms and grandmas bling. My son, he becomes the custodian for generations to come. He might enen help me figure out how to take pics and send them to this forum. Thanks for listening. Sorry for grammer. took 80 minutes to peck it out. Arniout. |

Hi Arnout , Welcome to the forum ! It must be great having all these watches from previous generations I am sorry to hear about your troubles with the watch and i am glad you decided to get it back from switzerland , they are not quite competent with vintage watches and very expensive as well If the problem persists we have expert watchmaker on the forum here as well that should be able to help out if your own watchmaker cannot fix the problem Rgds rene |

WELLCOME TO BS. I totally agree with Rene[Dracha] and Teds referral. I have had numerous watches and some that were missing a fair # of movement parts serviced and rebuilt by Craig. I can not sing his praises high enough!! |

Hey Arni Interesting what you say about them not returning any old (valuable) parts. I posted on this forum recently about New old stock Dials being provided by Breitling during service. It's wild that people pay to give up their valuable vintage parts!!! They charge a huge premium for those new Parts, and the ones that some give up are just as valuable. I'm glad that you had the foresight not to let this happen. Please show us photos of your beautiful watch. Eric |

Eric , Both the heists and breitling themselves will not return any parts they replace I believe it is a worldwide policy that they keep the parts , you get the restored watch, they keep the parts |

Arni, touch the watch with your finger (on the screen) and hold it before you take the shot and it will focus better |
