Hi there,

I am new to this forum. My name is Antoine and I live in Paris-France.

I own several watches, mainly Rolex (nobody's perfect), modern or vintage.

I just bought a vintage Breitling AVI 765 with a rare LIP dial signature. This watch was discussed on the forum here : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=54580

I contacted the seller directly and bought the watch from him directly. The transaction was flawless and I am very proud to wear this beauty on my wrist now.

Here is a picture for you. I can attach more if wanted. Just ask!

The watch keeps perfect time and is now a jem in my (modest) collection.

I am going to source first a vintage correct strap and buckle for it. A vintage box will come in a next step. Any advice would be really appreciated to find the correct ones.

Have a nice week-end, Antoine

Thank you all.

As mentioned in the other post, the case back was sanded a lot so markings are pretty gone.

With a x30 magnifying glass, I was able to take a picture of the digits which are engraved on the back of the watch (see pic attached): 1155707. I have no idea about what they are... The serial number engraved inside the case back is 1084247 making the watch a '66 according to the forum serial dater.

What do you experts think?

Thank you!

Antoine

In addition to my previous reply, I have found a 1967 co-pilot on sale in Switzerland with the serial engraved on the back : http://ponti-collection.ch/fr/horlogeri ... ect&id=260

On the other hand, there was a 1967 Navitimer sold on Ebay by Billshaine with a double stamping. According to the description : "Of particular interest is the double stamping of the serial number, once inside the back cover and once on the outside. 1967 was a minor transition year for Navitimers with the introduction of red indices on the dial and the slide rule and the location change of the serial number from inside the back cover to the outside. I have seen a few of these with the double stamping of the serial number before. Fortunately, the serial number is the same in each location." (listing is here: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/VINTAGE-1967-STE ... 1257603403)

At the end of the day, I believe that my Co-pilot from 1966/1967 had a double stamping back cover from the factory. One may think that a previous owner did not know this 1967 double stamping exception and did try to scratch the case back to delete it.... Hopefully the x30 magnifying glass is there :-)

Let me know what you think!

Antoine
