Hi Guys,

I've never bought any vintage watch before and I hope some of you could help me buying my first vintage watch. I've been browsing for a few UGs watches but I haven't really found anything that I really like until now and I've come across this vintage Breitling Chronomat from 1965 that I'm pretty keen to buy.

It says the condition is original with gold filled case but the back is stainless steel? I was just wondering if that's actually pretty common? And the asking price from the seller is just under $4k not including shipping, do you think that's quite a reasonable price for the watch?

Very looking forward for your help, I'm really glad I found this forum for Breitling watches!! :lingsrock:

Thanks heaps

Andre

yes, "gold filled", or as Breitling called them "rolled gold" watches has steel casebacks.
watch seems to be in very nice condition.

edit: just saw your price question: no, this isn't reasonable; 2.5-3k max. even for the nicest 808

I agree with Fred, condition looks nice but 30% over market price

Thanks guys for the info, been looking for some UGs for quite a while and that's probably why this good looking watch doesn't look that expensive for that price as I'm not that familiar with vintage Breitlings.

And btw Fred, followed you on instagram, you kinda inspired me with vintage Breitling!

thank you !

I love UG, but prices have become truly unreasonable, with black Aero-Compax approaching $20k - and movement quality/reliability can't really compete with the Venus and Valjoux Breitling was using.

Here's a rather nice early 808 you might enjoy, elegant watches; be patient, you'll find a very decent piece around/below 2.5k
and let us have a look to verify it is all correct.
