In my quest for a beautiful 806 I have come across many watches in varying conditions. Many of the differences are easily documented already on this site, such as replacement slide rules, incorrect bezel, redial, relume, etc. One thing I have become curious about, and have not been able to find a post about, is the difference in appearance of lume on 806 dials. Some numerals appear to be black inside but very crisp, while others are black and very blurry. I don't believe these are different dials, just the way the lume has aged? In the first picture is a navi that appears to have solid lume which has aged to a brownish color. Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411943160.582657.jpg In the second, the lume appears to be still in tact, but has darkened to a blackish color. From what I've read possibly due to moisture? Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411943136.596934.jpg Now, onto my real question, when the edges of the numerals still appear crisp, but the insides are black, is it purely an absence of lume? Has all of the lume fallen off? Compare the last two pics, where the insides of the numerals are black, but one has crisp edges (absence of lume?) and one has a very blurred appearance inside (presence of degraded lume)? Crisp numerals Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411942897.234732.jpg Blurry Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411942868.768802.jpg Thank you for all the insight! Eric |

Unfortunately the app has reversed the order of my photos. I will try to edit. |

"Now, onto my real question, when the edges of the numerals still appear crisp, but the insides are black, is it purely an absence of lume? Has all of the lume fallen off? " Mostly the lume is still intact but black , what i know is that the numers themselves on the dial are white ish and then lumed on top , if the lume is gone you will see the light coloured numbers without the lume If the numbers are black, brown or any shade between them the lume is still there , with luck you can even find watches with almost original very light lume , not relumed ![]() |
