Hi all...first post.

I have a 1960 806 and I'm trying to understand it's value.

The watch was given to me when I first entered the aviation industry in 1981 from a friend who received the watch as a retirement gift from the aviation industry.

The watch is 100% original with box, paperwork and manual, and was only worn for special occasions.

had that same discussion recently about a very similar piece, just missing the box and papers, which are very, very rare for such a watch.

c24 or ebay BIN would typically be $3.5-4k or more; auctions end a bit above 3k, add at least 300-500 for b&p.

spectacularly beautiful piece.

GP, 18k had slightly different lugs.

hang tag is the earliest I've seen btw., different from the mid 60s tags, great to see this !

Been off the net for a day. Boy, is this a nice one. This is one that would get much attention if put up for sale. Best set we have seen all year by far.

Sorry Kurt, spot is just a reflection. It is not on the other photos as I spotted that also. Lug looks fine to when compared to other photos as well. I hate to say, he has one on you with this one. Might want to contact and try to purchase. Sweet collection.

Don't be sorry, and please free me from "I hate to say, he has one on you with this one", as I have no problem with that.

If you only have access to the 3 pictures listed above, then how can you say that the lug looks fine, to my eyes the lug is bent, and on the picture it even looks like there's ugly scratches on it.
Hopefully better pictures will show that I'm wrong.

All good Kurt, I am sure that he is just wanting to get a gauge on what his watch is worth. Not really looking to sell.
Have to excuse my American humor, I understand that some of you take this stuff too serious. It's only only watches, not rockets in your bedroom.

Best,
Wayne

Thanks for all the reply's; this forum is incredible.

For the past 33 yrs this watch as been safely tucked away only to surface during very special occasions or when I want to brag around my aviation brethren - over a couple beers of course.

As I've gotten older I've become more interested in the watch and have attempted to discover the history, origin and value with no-joy. This forum has rectified all that, I didn't even know the "year of birth" of this watch until a couple days ago...thank you.

As for issues...concerns...questions...please fire away. I never started this quest for the purpose of selling the watch but to gather information. It is absolutely crazy how knowledgeable and passionate the people are on this forum and I whole heartily welcome it.

Bottom line - I've learned more about this watch in the last 48 hrs then I ever knew in the last 33 yrs, and for that I thank each and every one of you.

As for the spot on the dial and badly bent lug...no worries...here's four more pic's.

Thanks To All...
