Post subject: | breitling involved with Sinn? |
Hi Does anyone have any information about Sinn being involved with breitling? My dad left his breitling to me and I noticed some differences to other Breitling’s of that time period, the movement, face, crown etc. are Breitling, but the bezel and second hand look to be made by Sinn, it is a genuine watch I have had it checked, but I am just curious about why it seems to be a hybrid, I don't have an exact year of manufacture, but i have been told it is circa 1980's, if anyone does have any info or links I could follow I would be grateful. Kind regards Gary |

In 1979 Breitling was almost bancrupt, and started selling of inventory etc to Sinn. Sinn then started selling watches made from these parts. Someone else will be able to give more details, but you can find more info on the web also. Copy-paste: SINN All completed stock, and the right to use the 806/809 design (not the name) was sold to Helmut Sinn, who sold off most of the branded stock to trade. Olde Worlde Jewellers in USA bought a good proportion. Sinn now manufacture the 806/809 under their own brand name, and model no 903. The Company name, and trademarks were sold to the new Breitling company, run by Ernst Schneider. a "look like" Navitimer by Sinn (waterproof version) Sinn "Look like" Navitimer Another version of the "look like" Navitiemer by Sinn Theses "Navitimer like" watches could not therefore be concidered as fakes and they are interesting historically , but they could not also be concidered as true Navitimers. |

I think i have got the pictures to work sorry about that, i am not very computer savvy, you can see the bezel is a sinn design, and the tail end of the second hand is a tear drop also a sinn design the pushers and crown are gold plated but the crown has the breitling b i can' get a clear picture of that sorry. |

I believe this is neither a SINN nor a Breitling but rather a home made pieces parts watch or 'Frankenwatch' as we call them |

frankenwatch....... oh that sounds bad........what percentage of the value would that effect it? my dad loved it, i don't know what he paid for it, he left all his watches to me when he died so for me it has more sentimental value, but if anything happened to me i would pass them on to my son, he would probably want to sell it so i would like to think it does have value. |

can I see a caseback,. please ? looks like a correct Lemania Cossie 81600 w/ a replacement bezel & chrono second. watches were produced in the mid 1980s - by Ernest Schneider's "new Breitling" that had no connection to Sinn. |
