Hi, This watch just surfaced at my local watch dealer. It has box and papers, unfortunately there is no movement pictures. I would like to ask if 1) everything from the pictures is original and 2) the patina on the watch looks a lot more aged than watches of the same era which you guys have posted. Is it a sign to be concerned of (moisture damage) or it's acceptable patina. The market price for 809's seem to be around $2,500 to $4000. What would be a fair estimation of this watch considering its rarity/condition? I know valuations are highly subjective and frowned upon but I'm only asking because the watch is for sale by "expression of interest" and i wanted to know what would be a fair offer. Regards, Adrian |

I believe he's looking for >9K AUD$ You cant really compare this with post 1962 watches, this is the 'original' all black 809 , the 1st model and similar that was worn by Scott Carpenter Rarity is the biggest factor here |

Thanks Rene, I'm curious about the patina on the watch? Is it due to tritium? If so why does it look so 'old' compared to others? Regards, Adrian |

Probably a combination of moisture and something else (nicotine ?, sunlight ?) Personally i would pass on this one unless he accepts a <4K AUD$ offer, which I know he doesnt ![]() |

Haha thanks for the advice, 9k is a bit much. and after looking at some of your watches, i don't think i would be happy with that dial even though its super rare. |

This is a beautiful watch and the "beads of rice" bezel and all-black dial make it super collectable. be very careful with bids/offers on this watch - easily US$5000 IMO Oh forgot to add, I believe that the coloring is probably a sign of moisture damage and likely the nicotine angle that other post mentioned. If it still functions properly, then any moisture damage would be highly limited. Personally, I think the yellowing of the dial is somewhat normal for this age of watch...I am suspect of watches that don't look like this i.e. too new. |

Nice watch but the blackened/dark greenish lume on the hour counters is not attractive to most collectors. |

It would be interesting to see it without crystal . When I found my all black 806 , it was looking yellowish due to aged crystal. |

I don't think its the crystal because the Breitling script is quite white. |
