I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying a vintage 806, and came across this one on EBAY. I think it’s a beautiful watch, but I am new to vintage watches and the hobby. Is there anything that looks “off” about the watch that should be a concern or reason not to buy?

http://m.ebay.com/itm/321377843494

Thanks in advance,

For the price, it is a buy to me. The dial might not be the greatest but they come up and you can replace it. Don't let that scare you. It is an honest piece, fair price.

Thank you so much for the information. Is changing out the dial considered minor work?

Nothing you can do yourself but easily done by a watchmaker no problem at all.

I would keep the OG dial. Nice and distressed. Still legible. Looks great to me.

I bid and won the item...couldnt resist.

I sorta like the old, naturally distressed dial myself. will probably get a new strap for it, maybe a hirsch or a leather nato

Thanks guys,

Congratulations!
Just recently took the plunge myself. A 1964 Navi 806 with a similar condition dial. I too like my watches to look their age. No face lifts here!

Thanks guys,

Congratulations and welcome to BS and the Breitling Vintage world. I am sure it will not be your last vintage watch. Collecting these works of art from a past time becomes addicting!

Agree, I wouldn't want to pay more for a toptime than I did for my Navi. I sort of like the two dial top time over the three. what do you guys think is a good price for a "no-issue" one?

USPS tried to deliver my 806 today, but I missed the delivery guy =( Gotta pickup tomorrow now I guess
