Post subject:  Bit confused on serial placement in 806's

Hi, I have noticed some 806's have the serial on both case back and on the inner case back like this example, is that correct? Shouldn't it have only been on the inside?

Even more confusing, this one has it on the outer caseback but not on the inner caseback

Cheers

1st has the serial outside only, like the second.

thought that conversion only happened in 1969, so a bit surprised to see that on a '68

Thanks Fred, meant this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Breitling-Navit ... 3a8aab2913, see the faint serial on the caseback and also the innercase back.

So whats the usual rule with 806/809's, should the serials be on the inside or outside ?

if u had asked me until today - inside until 69, outside later.

that caseback u are linking to now clearly has both - never saw that b4; but that caseback is wrong in another respect too, 806 on a Cossie, though that's only one of the problems this piece - claimed to be NOS - has, we discussed that one before.

hope Kurt will chime in re the inside AND outside numbers.

I believe someone added the outside serial number on a later date
Reason ? I wouldnt know but it doesnt look original

just saw another '67 Cossie w/ outside serial, so the changes clearly started earlier than I had remembered.

I've seen quite a few of the double serial number versions over the years. I didn't note the years in particular but they were usually on later models. Don't really think it's anything to be concerned about as long as both serial numbers are the same. Most likely older cases restamped on the outside to match current (at that time) offerings.
