Post subject:  Breitling 765 AVI

Hello All,

New here to ask a question. I have my fathers Breitling 765 AVI which I think he acquired in the mid to late 1960s. He was a member of the 8th air force in ww2 serving in wendling england as flight engineer in missions over Germany and France. He joined the air force being inspired by Lindburgh as a child. After the war I recently learned from his effects (he died in 2002) that he used the GI bill to get his pilots license and in the 1960s set up a flight school and exec shuttle service. I give this background as I thought the folks here would appreciate it.

I'm wondering if you would know what the watch might be worth? It does have some face scratches, but seems to be in good working order otherwise. I remember it from childhood just not what year acquired. Here is a photo:

Your help is appreciated in advance,

Sincerely,
Blueskygal

absolutely impossible to give u even a rough pricing range with this blurry pic - though hands and dial seem strange; dial might be refinished, I'm afraid.

we need in focus pics of the dial, the caseback inside and out and a movement pic to say anything relevant.

Got my heart beating a little faster first, but looking at the pic Fred is correct

Dial badly redone , incorrect hands

This is what it ideally look like . As you can see yours looks quite a bit different which diminishes value quite a bit but i would need a much sharper pic to assess value correctly

hate to be right, dial is redone and hands are really incorrect, I had somehow hoped it was just the blurry pic.

with many other watches this would not be such a huge issue, as dials and hands do come up for sale, but with the AVI that is highly unlikely.

to say more about realistic value of this piece in the current condition, we would still need a movement pic and the serial no.

Yeah, can't put problems down to a blurry pic anymore. Whoever did that dial has ruined the piece, what a shame.
