Finally got to this one yesterday. About 12 years ago I bought the complete set of Esembl-O-Graf chronograph repair books originally published in 1949 and volume 23 was specifically written for the Venus cal 179 (2 register) and cal 185 (2 register movements). This was invaluable for this project - especially since some the prior repairs were incorrect. Pictures include the movement disassembled - the upper row (excluding the jumper spring) of parts are just for the split second mechanism and pics from the book. To continue when its completed..... |

Well, its finally done! There were a couple of prior repairs that held me up for several days before I finally got it sorted out. The split second function in something to see in person. Its actually a simple function but takes a lot of extra parts to make it all work. Too bad about the condition of the dial but I did get the 6 off another dial and put it on this one. I still think it best to leave it as is rather than a redial. I will try to get some better pics later. |

excellent decision to leave the dial as it was, w/ the newly mounted applied 6 it looks great ! wonderful & uber rare piece, thank you (and the owner) for sharing this ! |
