is it ? I know they're quite rare , as are all 765/76xx yachting models, but a first .. wow I know of one other with a different (later) set of hands must be a prototype ![]() |

Renè - I see no reason to be nervous. I have not seen a 765 Yachting, only 7650s, so it is a first for me; hands are correct for a 765 and do not show the Yachting variations we have come to expect on the 7650 (multiple different configurations, but all different from the AVI), I have now even seen a Yachting with it's own ref. no. 7660; one for sale on chrono24, another on an fb group. guy on fb ciaimed his was the only "correct" Yachting and a prototype! (don't laugh), one of my strangest virtual encounters, claimed to have "definite proof", but wanted money upfront to show the proof. yeah, sure. started harassing me by pms, so he's not a facebook member anymore ![]() just adding this, as the Yachtings are among the least documented models, miniscule numbers, but all a bit different (just look at the differences on this forum, Andrew/jlee5050, Laurent/Noodia, me) - and no sense to really try to research, as they seem even rarer than the blacks or close, but no ads or catalogs to find w/ pictures ? |

Thanks Fred, Usually I dont get cold feet and this one looked correct , however I didnt quite realize it was a 765 and not a 765x until you mentioned it . Then when Roff said grail I started looking / searching and the only 2 other pieces I can find are from xxxxxxx , with different hands & repainted hands , thats when I get weary ![]() But the AVI yachtings are rare allright , 1960'ies is when boating became affordable for the middleclass and the yachting watches were used to countdown to the starting signal , which is an audible signal at the start of the race Typically only the skipper needs to know whe the start is , but a normal watch works as well. (I am rambling , arent I ?) So to buy a (almost) single purpose watch , for yacht races that only occur so often , that means a lot of disposable income , hence the rarity I believe |

rambling is fine. 1st I see as I disregard what xxxx is listing, did not notice he has 765 Yachtings; like the watch you show a lot, the bezel on yours is just like mine, very similar fading - no way it's not OEM; and the 7650 bezels do not fit a 765 case, as we sadly know. here is the ref. 7660 from Germany, same area as the j*rk and a "prototype" too, so assume it is the same watch. "all original parts" is typical Frankenlingo, but who knows ..... https://www.chrono24.com/en/breitling/- ... Findex.htm |

My grail reference was to another watch that I had on my wrist yesterday as a potential purchase suggesting that the only reason that I wasn't jealous of you was because of that experience - apologies for the confusion. In terms of this watch, I can't say that I have seen one quite like this either, but it's not the first time that has happened and then we have to look at each of the elements to see whether the whole thing makes sense. There is no single element here that looks incorrect so no reason to suspect that this is anything other than completely genuine. |

Thanks Roff, if Paul , Bill and a few others now agree with this assessment I am quite happy with my purchase Otherwise I would have had to brake it apart and sell the pieces, which may bring more than I paid for it anyway ![]() |

I think that's a spot on first run of this pattern. Didn't we once see an add from around 1968 ot 1969 when it was described marketed as the "Super Watch" or some other superlative? It had the Co-Pilot hand set, as yours does. I can't recall the reference number. |

it has arrived safely, I cant find anything incorrect , nice count down yachting bezel and dial , surprisingly enough it was serviced by Breitling in 2010 and they managed to not screw it up ! ![]() serial number is 1140938 (1967 approx) and the reference '765 CP' ![]() |
