Farfo always has some nice and interesting watches listed. I think they are a very reputable company to buy from. Very ice watch pictured Fred! |

Rick, it is clearly a Gen.2 (1967-1969) Breitling Top Time ref. 810; first time I see it UG-branded. |

Very interesting, never seen anything even suggesting a connection before. Wish I could read the balance cock code, but clearly is a Breitling piece. |

Interesting ! Never seen anything about relationship btw UG and Breitling . UG were manufacturing their own calibers - for them, for Jaeger, Zenith ... I never heard about UG calibers used by Breitling . In the latest years of UG - they were in the first big manufactures to pass due to horologic crisis in the early 70s - they used Valjoux 23 and 72 for their Tri-Compax . In France the connection was thru Lip who was acting as a distributor for UG and Breitling . Most of the UG hands that I collected from a retired main distributor were in Lip packagings, but he had close to nothing from Breitling . I shall try to get his opinion about this watch , he was also one of the main french dealers of UG until UG closed . On the Farfo's watch, I don' t feel 100% comfortable with the UG logo , but probably because the design looks a bit modern - The 1967 -69 period was corresponding to the very late years of UG. |

I got Farfo to add a pic of the back and you can see it has no Breitling style markings. After a thorough Google search I found many UG watches from the late 1960's that had Venus 178 movements but they were all 24hr pieces and not the same style. Nothing even close to the one Farfo has. I would be surprised if there is any connection to Breitling at all. Perhaps UG bought the cases and dials from Breitling but more likely they got them from whomever Breitling buys them from. |

Now that I have one of these I am off the fence and I believe Breitling manufactured these for UG it also has the Breitling 'TJ' mark on the mainplate , just below the '178' ![]() ![]() |
