Post subject:  Can anyone help identify my Breitling watch

Hello all,

I have a ladies Breitling watch but I have no information about what type it is or what year it was made. It was given to my grandmother in the 1950's but thats all I know about it. It has 5 interchangeable straps and 11 different face covers. I have done a lot of searches on google but I cant find anything similar to this watch. Any information that you might have about it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Alex

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

This is a set that was designed to allow ladies to have multiple looks with just one watch - hence all of the different straps and bezels. Your grandmother's seems to be exceptionally complete and in very good condition - as you might expect things often go missing from the kit, but looks like you are just missing one strap. It's not particularly valuable - the complete set is probably around the $1,000 mark or slightly more, but it's a nice piece. Member vintage (Paul) used to have a set so may be able to provide a bit more information.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

it is a Breitling XI or "11" for the eleven different cases, reference number is 5654; manufactured in the 1950s; this is the most complete set I have ever seen !

edit: Roff was faster

These interchangeable kits were pretty popular at one time and many different manufacturers sold the same pieces so it's easy to swap the best pieces between kits. Here's my Breitling kit and some others.

Cool thanks for the info.

Do you have any idea what something like this could be worth?

There are three or for different Breitling kits that were offered. Some with less options and some with different options like a broach. I've seen them sell anywhere from $150 - $1500 for the larger, mint, complete kit. There hasn't been one on ebay for some time so not sure what they will go for at the moment but my guess would be in the $150-$450 range.
