Roff, In this thread viewtopic.php?f=11&t=50403 you once again claim that 806 is an “ok” reference number on early Cosmonautes before, but let me say it again, 806 on the case back of a Cosmonaute is never ok. You refer to Alan Trott’s article about the Cosmonaute, the watch he pictures is a 1963 AOPA Cosmonaute, with what to my eyes, looks could look like redone numbers, and definitely wrong sliderule. The watch is pictured here below. ![]() I have told you before that he found that picture online, without any documentation at all, he snapped it & used it, that’s it. For what it’s worth, it could have been any eBay auction. We have no evidence at all that any early Cosmonaute watches was stamped 806, having said that, I obviously can’t rule out that a Breitling employee back then had a glass of wine too much over dinner and attaches a couple by mistake, but that does absolutely not make it correct. Alan trot is a nice chap, I worked together with him and Jean-Michel of Navitimer.net back trying to solve the mystery of the vintage Navitimers. I remember that he had an large subdial 806 Navitimer, and that this watch was the only vintage Navitimer he had ever held in his hand, it had a recent factory replacement dial on it, and I was the one who told him that, as he wasen't aware of it himself, so much for his knowledge about vintage Navitimers. His watch is pictured here below. ![]() By keeping on referring to 806 being ok on an early Cosmonaute, you directly add to the confusion about the history of the vintage Navitimers and Cosmonaute, a history I am using a lot of effort trying to put right, please don’t trivialize that, I kindly ask you to stop doing it, at least until you can back it up with some kind of evidence. As a matter of fact, I know that back in 2006 you found my article interesting, was aware that my love for the Navitimers was apparent, but you didn’t rely on me and my writing to be accurate for the history of the 806” http://www.breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/v ... =11&t=4172, it is my hope that this has changed. I hope that after having read this, you either come up with some evidence, or stop claiming that 806 on an early Cosmonaute is ok, as if not – you IMO place yourself in a boat where you don’t belong, a boat you certainly won’t like to sail in, the captain of the boat has many alias, and through good work you hopefully will succeed in sinking it for good one day. Kurt, Your knowledge of Navitimers is impressive, but as I am only too aware, no one is perfect. I believe you to be one of, if not the single most knowledgeable individuals on the subject, if sometimes rather prickly about your approach to it. I find no one to be infallible, not you, not me, not anyone else, and I hope that no one believes themselves to be so. I find your indirect comparison between me and Herr Marz to be wholly inappropriate, inaccurate and downright insulting and will say nothing more about the subject other than to say that it is unfortunate that you chose to make such an accusation in so public a manner, I suspect that it will reflect more on you than me. |

Kurt, with all due respect for your impressive knowledge about the Navitimers, I have learned a lot from your articles and often quote you or link to them - but you most definitely know little to nothing about human interaction. I am truly apalled by the tone of your post - THIS is not ok ....!!! |

The OP strikes me as arrogant but then again I may be wrong, I've only read this one post.......I won't be reading anymore, there are ways of putting a point across without being rude! |
