Hi,

I've got what I believe to be a 1970 Breitling Cadette.

I've been trying to read up on them but I haven't found much information, can anyone confirm this is a 1970 Cadette?

Also, does anyone know anything about these? It belongs to my father, and he was bought it when he was a young man. He said they were very much entry level Breitlings.

Are they Swiss made?

Basically any information you have would be much appreciated!

I've attached some photos.

Cheers!

Definitely Swiss made, looks like an 1155 reference Cadette, would need a serial number to date it exactly, but that's the right time period. Should have a Venus 188 movement in it and if you can find a friendly watchmaker to open it up the inside of the caseback and movement will tell us more. The Cadette was more of an entry level piece for Breitling, but still a Breitling and that looks like a nice survivor!

Some are turned off by pieces with inscriptions on them but to me they tell a story. Would like to see a movement image, for me the money shot and also case back inside for serial number but so far so good.
Roff as usual dead on.

Thanks very much, at least now I know what it is!

My Dad hasn't worn it in years, and since we share the same initial he's decided it would be right if I had it.

I'm looking into getting it restored, although I want to keep some of the vintage patina.

Thanks again.

These have always been oddball watches. Never seen any catalog reference to them, a couple of different version with different movements, and don't really fit what Breitling was offering, in the indicated timeframe, with the flat pushers. Got a feeling these were reinvented by Breitling from earlier available cases just to fill a gap for some additional, inexpensive, offerings. There are enough of them around to indicate they are genuine though.

1155 / 1156 are referenced in the 1965 catalogue - http://imgur.com/a/qBJv9
