Hello to all fellow Breitling collectors. I was directed here from a post on the Heuer "On The Dash" site. I have been restoring vintage chronographs for over 8 years and many of them have been Breitlings (see before and after below). I had the good fortune to see a lot of authentic vintage Breitlings early on before they became so valuable (I bought my 806 Nav 8 years ago for a little over $700) and the fakes started flooding the market. They are almost at the point where some of the better fakes are hard to tell from the real thing. In a few more years it may be impossible. So beware, most come from S. America but they are coming from everywhere now. Nice forum and I will be checking it often. Craig ![]() |

I think I'm in love ![]() Craig, you and I are going to get along famously (don't know where I can get a 1952 806 or 1942 Chronomat do you?) Good to have a professional here - and very nice work. |

I don't know where you can find those off hand, especially if you are looking for those specific years. My 806 is from 56 or 57 I think - bought it from the original owner/pilot in Canada. My Chronomat is probably close but I don't know. It's 18K gold and I couldn't afford it now. I plan on keeping both of these for some time to come. Good luck, Craig PS - do you have a serial number list to determine year produced? Craig, don't know where I can get a 1952 806 or 1942 Chronomat do you? Good to have a professional here - and very nice work.[/quote] |

![]() Good to have a professional here - and very nice work. That's my old Ref 1193 I had Craig do a restoration on some time ago. Craig does first class work and you should have seen that watch to begin with. I basically gave him a box of parts, some good, some bad, and he restored and replated the case. The dial is one of the best restorations I've seen. It ran perfectly. I sold the watch on ebay last year and I think it's sold twice more since then, of course each time for more $$ than I got for it. ![]() Paul |

With that quality and that value it gives me a lot more confidence to buy some of the wathces that get passed over because of condition. The prices on the good ones are really starting to get stupid, and while I don't think it can be sustained, it doesn't seem to be stopping yet. |
