[img=http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7409/breitlingxy8.th.jpg] Can anybody give me some information about this model? This is an old watch from my grandfather. He died in 1948 and nobody else used the watch, which might be much older, because it seems pretty much worn by the state of the dial. I could not find any catalogue to identify the model. I will appreciate if you could give me some information. Sorry for the low quality pictures. |

You don't by any chance have a serial number do you? It would be on the inside of the caseback (but don't take the caseback off yourself to check). |

Well, I can't find much on it either. It's likely a Venus based manual movement and is consistent with a 40s - 50s watch. Obviously this would be 1948 at the latest. There were very few watches made between the war years, and so it is likely in the 46 - 48 period, a serial number would be helpful in dating it correctly. Given that it's been in your family we don't have to worry about whether the movement hands and case match, but these pieces aren't particularly valuable - $300 - $400, but for insurance purposes I would look closer to $750. |
