Hi there,

I have inherited the above watch from my Grand Father and I am currently trying to research its history. I know nothing about the watch and so far I have not been able to find anyone who is able to provide any detail and I cannot find any information on the internet. I was hoping that you would be able to help?

Any information such as age, how often I need to get it serviced, how many of these watches were sold, approximate value for insurance purposes etc would be really appreciated. I also understand the strap is not original, what sort of strap should this watch have, leather?

The number on the back of the watch is 64 26 and i have attached a pic for info.

Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

Very nice piece. Mid 50s if memory serves with a Felsa 692 movement, the serial number is inside the caseback and will date it exactly. Don't think I've come across a 64 26 model designation before (it's not 54 26 is it?). We have a watchmaker on the site who can help you with servicing - member chronodeco (Craig) and it will likely need a basic service every 3 - 5 years and then be fine.

Don't see these come up very often so value is tough, I'll take a stab in the dark at around $1,500 for insurance purposes and let others correct me - I think that one member Paul has / had one of these so should have a good idea.

thanks for the response.

Its difficult to tell if the number is a 6 or a 5 so i could be wrong. I have pics of the inside movement which i will upload shortly.

Any idea of the type of strap that should be on it?

50s straps were nowhere near the quality of today - put something on that you like the look of and don't worry about authenticity - straps are always 'consumables'. Fred will likely have some suggestions for what he thinks would go nicely.
