Post subject: | Questions about Chrono-matic 2111 variations |
One of my 2013 vintage Breitling projects is on the good way ... my Chrono-matic 2111 will quickly receive its correct cal 11 and hands! Attachment: DSCF6206.JPG I have observed slight differences and would be grateful if some of you can confirm and infirm my expectations . 5 dial versions seen : b1 = black + white subdial zone ( as seen in Japan catalog ) b2 = b1 with AOPA logo s1 = silver + dark matt blue subdial zone with white circles around subdials ( one owned + as seen in catalogs ) s2 = s1 with AOPA logo s3 = silver + metallic dark blue subdial zone with slightly concave subdials not circled ( one owned) Note : according to catalogs , correct date ring is silver for silver dial and white for black dial ... in fact few are really correct , many pieces do not match , letting me thinking that some of cal 11 might have started their life in other - Breitling or Heuer or Hamilton watches ? 2 case variations : v1 = the most common : all brushed front , sharp angles , similar to Datora 2030 case seen several pieces in the sequence SN 1268xxx dated 1969 owned 1 used case SN 1326178 v2 = unusual : brushed front except chamfered and polished angles , polished ring around crystal seen one in the Breiling book with s1 dial owned 1 NOS case SN 1326746 IMHO the most handsome combination would be s3 in v2 like that Attachment: DSCF5385.JPG - but is it 100% correct , or may I prefer s1 in v2 as below - note wrong black subdial hand ?Attachment: DSCF6205.JPG As an exhibition strap I have a NOS black lizard style Breitling Genève strap as in the 1969 Japan catalog ( Fred you know wht I mean ![]() A set of NOS hands , left subdial hand white and right subdial hand red , open end hour and minute hands , red sweep . Your opinion would be appreciated in order to avoid any wrong combination |

The 2111 case is the most common seen available nos. The dial is also one of the most common found nos in most of the available colors. It's a simple matter to assemble one of these once you find a donor movement. When purchasing one you have to look at the movement carefully to make sure it's correct. I had a badly beat up 2114 a few years ago I had Craig rebuild into a 2111 because the parts were easily available. It turned into a nice example. |
