Hi everyone, I have taken delivery this morning of this (I think) great watch. Just really wanted to share it and gather your thoughts and comments. Cheers Paul. http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy17 ... 094bba.jpg http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy17 ... 6db5d9.jpg http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy17 ... 408c78.jpg http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy17 ... 74e024.jpg |

Hi Paul, Perhaps I will go first. Being the owner of a CM 44, I am sure its one of the best watches you could own in the Breitling range. This one looks like it needs a little TLC, but I hope that’s something you can get to without too much cost or delay. Good ones don’t come along every day and the little work needed to get them back to original will probably see you with a great wearer and at a reasonable price. They are certainly a beautiful watch, and this one harking back to early days reminds me of what a stir this watch would have caused when first released. Mine is still something I am getting used to, especially with the crown on the left hand side like yours. Hands still look very bright orange on your model (after all this time) and with some repairs to the bezel and crystal, It will all come together very nicely. The cover for the rachet mechanism is something you should speak to one of the repairers here about (Craig comes to mind). A good service on the movement and away you go. Jim |

Thanks Jim, I totally agree, certainly the size of the watch was pretty unusual in the mid to late '60's. The watch is currently being assessed by my local watchmaker who has provided a great service over the years. I did ask him to particularly look at the peeling black cover to the rachet mech. and also to try and get a replacement for the partially removed black rubber stopper to the 3 o'clock crown position. If he has any problems sourcing any parts etc. I will be sure to ask here on the forum for assistance. Once I have it back on my wrist I will post the obligitary wrist shots. Thanks for your help. Cheers Paul. |
