Hi I recently bought this 769 and I am planning to get it overhauled. Any comments on authenticity are greatly appreciated. The bridge looks like a replacement to me (as far as I know 769s came with premier movement only in 18k gold/ the bolt holding the bridge is the only one that is not corroded). The dial looks unmolested to me, but I am not an expert. So comments on that would be appreciated as well. the back is stamped 6135xx and 769 which would make it a 45.

Also if you do know where i can get he missing hand, please let me know.

thanks

chris

Chris, watch is quite nice - dial is in great condition, hands are correct, make sure u have it serviced before using it too much, does not look like it had any TLC in the last decade(s) ;)

would not worry about the bridge markings, they have been all over the board on the early 769 - justlike on all other 40s Breitlings, marking seems correct, not a late addition like so many others.

worry about the missing running seconds hand when all the rest is decided, most competent watchmakers should be able to help you here.

Thanks again Fred,

Does that mean Graig won't have an original/correct Crystal? If so could I buy one via you/the forum and have it shipped to him?

no, in the contrary, correct crystals are on their way to Craig, have a 769 there waiting for that - should be no problem in the future.

You'll have to post pics once Craig is done with it :-)

@ Fred: I misunderstood, but this is even better.

@ J: You bet I will.

Craig still is not sure if he has an original subsecond. So if any of you guys have a spare one...would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

The watch looks great! Wore my new acquisition out a few days ago on it's original 1946 stainless strap. I will be sending to Craig soon for a checkup, and maybe a crystal swap, although it was previously serviced and running fine.
