$10k restoration project with bent lugs. Good luck with that.

It would make a lot more sense, and bring in the most value, if he had the watch restored properly. What's another $500 when we're talking thousands.

He's offering free postage. That does help in the decision making process.

I agree with you guys though. For a little extra, he could have made the restoration complete and more attractive to a wider audience. Its probably a simple service and maybe one or two small spare parts that need attending to.

I have had discussions on Ebay with sellers of fine watches in the past on exactly this same issue. The number of sellers who later realise that to attract any serious offers, they need to do the whole job and not leave the item partially restored, etc. Some get removed from sale and repaired, then relisted, and then they sell. Some just don't get it. :poke:

Thats what makes the world go round though.

Whew, that's similar to mine except is a English version datewheel v/s French and has "Breitling" inscribed on the bridge so looks like that marking was added later(not sure), mine is a later 644X serial dated 1946 with no bridge marking. Pity that one is in that condition but could be agood restoration candidate. Also anyone noticed that that 55X serial is prior to 1944? When did the 785's start production?

Edit: Also looks like it has a Venus movement(which is also correct) v/s some like mine which had a Valjoux 72C one.
