I agree with you guys though. For a little extra, he could have made the restoration complete and more attractive to a wider audience. Its probably a simple service and maybe one or two small spare parts that need attending to.
I have had discussions on Ebay with sellers of fine watches in the past on exactly this same issue. The number of sellers who later realise that to attract any serious offers, they need to do the whole job and not leave the item partially restored, etc. Some get removed from sale and repaired, then relisted, and then they sell. Some just don't get it.
Thats what makes the world go round though.
