Got this 22-18 Breitling OEM strap from member dan_t here (thanks dan_t). Was just as I wanted it, nicely aged and full of vintage character and perfectly matches the watches patina. I am very impressed with the build, quality and thickness of these Breitling straps, almost like wrapping a live croc round the wrist. Rest in pics!

Thanks Fred and thanks for all the strap advice that encouraged me to get it, looking at getting a deployant for it:). True, am amazed at their beauty and thickness, wondering if that super fatness could be from the crocs tail;) because in other watch brands the straps are so thin and flat. 22-18 is quite a nice fit for it though a 22-16 would have been great too. Above all the patina matching with the strap colour is the tastiest part!

Edit: Actually sounds like it has to come from the belly and the cheeks of the crocodile. For all we know it could have been sourced by Breitling from a croc in Oz since we have quite a few crocodile farms here. I doubt much of the leather comes from poaching anymore.

Quote:
Scarcity

Crocodile skins are rare because the best part of the skin that can be used is on the belly and the cheeks of the crocodile. The skin on the crocodile back is bony and very tough and cannot be used to make any items. In addition, skin from a single crocodile is not enough to make an item such as a bag, belt or wallet. According to Thomas Patrick of Hermes, skin from three or four animals is used to make a single crocodile Hermes bag. Scarcity of crocodile skins has led to massive poaching, endangering crocodiles' existence.

Hi San,
Man am I happy to see the strap on your navi, it looks brilliant!

As I said way back in my original post, it is an amazing piece of craftsmanship & such a deep and unique colour.

It was wasted in my draw & this is exactly what I was hoping for - someone who had the perfect piece to match.

Congrat's & enjoy!

Dan.
