Well, after some adjustments(in/out) in the collection the "lineup" is as below 
PLUS the Transocean which is on its way "transocean"

Yeah I'm thinking a nice early Chronomat for that truly classic era, and maybe a 50s vintage 806

For me there is only one Chronomat - 1940s silver dial with the patent number (217012) and the Swiss cross on the dial. They're out there - although the usual warnings apply - don't you dare buy without asking here first - at that vintage there's just more opportunity for problems. Hopefully you'll get Paul (vintage) as well - he's the real brains. A mint mid 40s Chronomat is going to set you back in the $2,500 range. |

So let's see if anyone's serious about the Chronomat...... http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Original-Breit ... dZViewItem I wouldn't quite say that this was auite the holy grail - this one's a 1946 which is the oldest commonly available, though the watch debuted in 1942 (war years watches are very hard to find because they weren't produced in large numbers due to the commitment to timepieces for the allied war effort). I'd pay very good money for a 1942, that's my holy grail. The only problem that I see with this one - I don't think that the centre seconds hand is original. At the time of typing it's $1,450 - that's a great price, though of course the words 'reserve not yet met' have to be taken into account. |
