I am looking for info regarding my 1953 765 AVI, it was my father-in-laws and it is rough condition. I just received a quote in the $2,000.00 range to have it brought back as close to original specifications as possible. I don't know enough about Breitlings to be able to decide if this would be a good investment. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you!

Who's doing the service? If you're going the Breitling route they're going to send you to the Heists (Horological Services) anyway. It's a little steep but if everything is there, then might need some TLC and nothing more. We have a member chronodeco (Craig) who does exceptional work at probably a fraction of the cost quoted you.

And yes it is worth the money. Strong demand for AVIs if you were to sell it.

early 765 AVI are very collectable - just make sure it is not "over-restored".
just saw another 1957 ref. 1004 that received a brand new and wrong set of
hands by Breitling :wowzers :guns:

please post some pics so we can evaluate the condition and restoring needs.

Definitely worth it on the face of it, but suspect that you can also get a lower price for the work. As Fred says, definitely post some pictures because that will make it much easier to give you accurate advice.
