Navitimer, Cosmonaute, AOPA, and LIP all in one dial.

It does make me wonder . . .

what happened to the "AOPA" in the logo shield?

why doesn't it have the bigger bezel?

why does the minute hand look wrong?

how did a post-1967 rotating bezel with red marks get on it?

the serial number (955666) seems right for 1962.

is that a "T" after the "Swiss Made"?

doesn't the "Breitling / Geneve" seem smaller than other first-run examples?

Kurt should drop by.

To me it looks like the Breitling Geneve and LIP have been added to an otherwise original dial. They seem to be whiter than normally seen. Also, why would the AOPA agree to Have LIP market their AOPA logo watches? I thought you had to order an AOPA Breitling through the AOPA back then.

Definitely some reworking going on here - Cosmonaute and lip overlapping as well. We've seen these 'AOPA less' AOPA wings before if I recall correctly.

we did see those AOPA wings before. most of the LIP logos seem slapped on like an afterthought,
often in a slightly different color; Jean Michel has some examples of these, never saw one in the metal.

It looks legit to my eyes,

Lack of AOPA in the shield is correct, Bezel is correct, minute hand is correct, the sliderule has obviously been replaced, I would have liked it to be 1963 (it’s late 1962 instead), It’s a “T” but where’s the Tritium ? It has either been removed or it has never been there, I’m leaning towards it has never been there, as I have seen a few before without Tritium.
Like Fred says, the LIP logo might have been slapped on like an afterthought.
