An interesting watch I could not resist, although I found no information about a Premier ref. 776, neither in catalogs, nor in Richter or anywhere online. Looked good on the pics, looks, feels & wears even better "in the metal", movement and movement markings, serial and ref. number stamping, hallmarks, hands; dial shows no sign of tampering - love those lugs, will have to replace the pushers. Let me know if you see anything you dislike about it (Roff, Bill, all ?), or have any information about these, please ? ![]() ![]() |

Thank you, Rick ! Yes, it IS a very nice watch and there are many, many Breitling models from the late 1930s and early 1940s that I have never seen in reality - many of the rare chronographs apparently did not survive until today, only pictured in old catalogs. All about the watch seems absolutely correct, I just always feel a lot better if I find anything to prove my "gut feeling", support my views - or point me to errors in my evaluation. Edit: thanks, Roff, for your confirmation, did you ever see that ref. no. (and these very pretty lugs) ? |

When I first saw it, I says to myself: "Self, that has to be a model shown on the 'Fanatsies' page of the 1946 catalog." But "776" is the one number not on that page and that case doesn't match any other. But, it's right in that series and it is a fancy, solid gold case (albeit from less common case maker). It seems a bit early for "Premier" to be on the bridge, but I'm the one holding the position that Premiers in this era were assembled over a period of time. If a cunning faker was going to put a Breitling case and dial in another watch, I think they would have also found some pushers with less wear. I've never seen pushers that have been worn through like that. Do they function okay? I think it is probably all genuine. |

Bill, the pushers function fine, like all other functions, they are surprisingly worn and seem to solid gold ? Never saw similarly worn pushers as well. Have it on quite reliable authority watch is all authentic, as a sibling 776 was found somewhere across the Atlantic. Funny these are so rare, wears very nicely, another clearly authentic piece that did not make it into Richter. Live an learn, this was quite the lucky buy. |
