Hiya all,


I've got an old Breitling Sprint Chronograph with the Serial Number resp. ID 22328.
How is it possible to determine the exact age, value etc?
The only document I've got ist the buying receipt and guarantee card.

22328 neither fits the any possible serial number (6 digits until the mid 60s, 7 later),
nor is it a model reference no. I recognize.

pls post pics (front and back, at least), ideally inside caseback & movement.

Well, I'm not sure wether the watch was bought originally in the '70s. Could have been also Second Hand.
The International Guarantee Certificate says that the date of selling was in November 1972.
This is proofed by signature. It also mentions a No. 2009/CR. And thirdly, under the sentence "Breitling est heureux de certifier que la montre" there is a stamp with what is an ID in my eyes. The stamp says "22328 * 20.Juni 1975".

I'm going to post a scan of the certificate as well as a couple of picture of this watch.

frankly less interested in what a dealer wrote on a certificate,
the only relevant info should be stamped on the watch.

2009 would be a correct ref. no., but that would be a tonneau Top Time.

Here are two Photos attached. Sorry for the mediocre quality.
The first shows the original guarantee certificate.
The second shows the watch itself.
While the watch was at Breitling "Labs" for a check-up,
the closure plate on the back side was changed.

case is the expected Tonneau TopTime, have seen some of those w/ these black/white "Sprint" dials,
one quite recently from the UK.

most probably Valjoux 7733, late 1960s, the serial number should either be on outside or inside
caseback, maybe u can add (a slightly larger) pic of caseback ?

Well, before I bother to get a real camera for a nice and detailed shot of the back,
could anyone tell me what such a vintage object is worth?
Best would be a twofold answer. First, what's it worth from a collectors point of view.
And second the worth for professional buyer and seller of such material,
e.g. a professional clockmaker and horologist specialized in vintage watches.

Of concern is that the watch needs another check-up because it is not working.
Also important is the condition, which is Excellent.
Wristband needs a new gold coating.

An excellent condition watch that is not running and only has blurry pictures that isn't worth putting effort into until we have provided a value. Just what I need of an evening after a very long day!

It's impossible to value something that we can't see, where the numbers that we have been given are inconsistent with the watch, and where we have to factor in the costs of repairs to a watch that doesn't run.
