While I've never been one to act rationally or patient; today I showed just one more example of my lack of restraint. I just had to do it. Now while I'm waiting on finishing one project, I can wait on another to begin.

Always the gentleman; how could I resist. ;)

Incoming from the 'bay hopefully next week. Serial puts it in '47 range. Went for a bit more than I wanted, considering no movement shot was posted. I just couldn't resist. I had it in my head that I would add a 50s 2nd gen. Chronomat after I found a Navi' to add. It appears that finding a 'Navi (in my manor of luck or bargain) will come a little later now.

It appeared to me that this one is all there and I'm pretty decent shape. Pics listed weren't the best, but I wasn't asking him to post better ones, that's for sure. Again, no movement pic, but with a spare 175 here for parts, I felt it would be an ok gamble. If I'm not mistaken, this would have been the first year of the transition to the updated dial?

thought I recognized that one, great buy, should end up a very nice watch.
watched and liked it, but seller restricted bids to the US.

one of those 40s 769 cases w/ a post 52 dial, many of those around,
my theory is Breitling had just too many cases made in the 40s and
finished them with dials in the early/mid 50s.

note: edit to eliminate typos, pad typing is a b*tch

Thank you again, Fred. That case theory really makes sense. I have the feeling as well that this is certainly factory correct and original, but was odd that the dial/hands combo was definitely 50s period. I didn't notice the bid restriction. Now I know why I ended up with it! :)

While it's not a museum mint piece, I think I did ok on price. I feel new glass and a proper cleaning and service will bring it back to life very well. The dial patina is heavy, but even. Looks like years of exposure as well as the presence and drying of fine heat condensation.

My biggest problem now is that I'm fighting the desire to add an early black dial 'mat. Just doesn't seem right not to have one to complete the set. Ugh; such a love/hate relationship with my obsessive personality ... I love it, and my wallet hates it!! :)
