Welcome to the BreitlingSource. It must be kind of cool knowing that Breitling wants your watch. I can't comment on whether a Chronomat 41 is a fair payment - there are too many unknowns. Does your watch have a lot of sentimental value? What condition is it in? (I encourage you to post some photos so that those with more knowledge than I can have a look and give their opinions.) Do you like the Chronomat 41?

If it were me, I'd use their offer as a starting point. Have a look at the Breitling website to see if there's another watch that you prefer to the Chronomat 41. Maybe a lifetime pass to the museum as well. 8)

Let's move this to the vintage section as you'll get better answers on value of the piece there, but as Dracha says we need a little more information to be able to give a good assessment.

Well it's a bit of a guess with what we have to go on, but personally I wouldn't do it, but that's because I am not a fan of the Chronomat 41. Also, if that's their first offer, how far are they prepared to go???

they have quoted £1,300 to complete the repairs and restoration, which model would you go for?

have it repaired and returned, if the repair includes a new bezel this is quite decent,
but PLEASE make sure they do not replace the hands, happened with a piece Rene (dracha) posted.

any of the current Lings is easily replacable, a nice 1004 w/ mint dial, respectfully restored -
this a a really rare and special piece.

If you are going to sell it anyway then spending money for Breitling to restore it may not be the best bet - they'll charge a lot more than it's necessary to pay and you'll never get that back. In that circumstance the offer from Breitlign might make more sense, although presumably it also means that you will end up selling the new piece and losing a ton on that as well.

if you sell it anyway DONT GET IT RESTORED !!! just have it serviced but make sure they keep the original parts with the watch , which I doubt they will do

any changes to the watch will diminish value enormously

the problem is it is unuseable without the work done on it and the bezel is near imposible to find, this is why i sent it to ling,as the uk service centre said they could not do it they sent it to switzerland,

Yes, but other independents are more likely to be able to source the bezel than Breitling are. It's a totally different comapny from the Breitling of 1958 and they don't have access to parts.
