Here's a small tip of the veil lifted of a watch that yearned for a good cleaning and some repairs

Very nice. Unusual export code stamping on that movement too.

After doing some research I found info from Bill (in Sacramento) on other fora that the first (other) known WOG stamps were from 1947 so I am going to take this as original , the serial also dates it to 1947

Craig said it had '40 years of crud' on the case , the pushers were even stuck by it ! and still the original mainspring and by looking at the movement , dial etc I have little reason to believe this isnt OK
It did however needed a repair because the date did not automatically advance at midnight and by reading Craigs comments it looks like it never could have worked properly ?

Question from me , Has anyone seen these hands before ?

I too read somewhere that WOG stamping started in 47, if not mistaken was Fred who mentioned it.

Also came across a Venus 1946 movement signed WOG here (Venus 175 movement from 1946 Chronomat signed both 'BREITLING' and 'WOG')

Don't doubt that it's original Dracha, just looked like an unusual stamp - maybe just variations because they were hand operated machines. The upside down stamping certainly indicates early, but it does look different than Alan Trott's (which I doubt is 1946).

Those hands do look familiar, although not convinced that they are all correct for the model.

Rene, same as Roff, hands are absolutely familiar but not what I would expect on a Datora.

Our dear friend Michael has a Datora V195 w/ similar hands http://www.chrono24.com/en/all/venus--- ... 4&tab=pics, but this one has so many question marks that you would probably not use it as a reference. will keep looking.

A question, what year did the stick hands change? I find it quite hard to read the time with them since get confused with the date and chrono hand. I have seen later ones with dauphine hands which I guess was for better readability though for looks I prefer the stick hands.

Rene, the watch looks beautiful, did you receive it yet? If so some more pictures needed:)

Cool, can't wait to see more pics of it.

The hands in that 46 catalogue definetely look like stick hands like on my watch though would love a better scan too.
