So finally I was able to find and purchase my first Breitling (I've been a longtime Jaeger-LeCoultre wearer). I am very pleased! I went with a NOS Chronograph from what I believe is the 1970s. I like the thick look of it and how much of the front of the case (bezel) that you see. It has a nice deep blue color to the face and neon orange and white pointers. I'd be curious to find out some additional information on the watch, maybe a shot of the Breitling catalog or what the original Breitling band would've looked like. From what I've read here and other places, it has a 7740 manual wind movement. |

It is a Valjoux 7740 movement from the 70s and looks like a nice piece. Serial number will allow us to date it exactly. |

I just looked at the serial number and compared it to the key and it says it is from 1973. This was new, old stock (NOS). I'm going to try a NATO nylon colored watch band and see how that looks with it. I plan to wear this daily...I'm not much on just looking at the watches...I want to wear them. BTW, the serial no. is 1414309 See POST below where pictured with new STRAP. |

congrats, beautiful, love the 7103s & yours is in beautiful condition. Park & Bond is what starting my watch hunt off in the first place. I saw these vintage Breitlings, which I had never seen before, on their website and then was able to see them in person when they did a popup shop in NYC. I checked on here and everyone told me what they were and that they were overpriced. I then hunted them down through other sellers. I saw the original NOS listings where the last one sold in 2009 for $1,295. Sadly, the price has gone up, but not even close to what Park & Bond is asking. I got the watch and now I'm going to try out their NATO band look to see if I like it. I really haven't seen a watch before that has this style of watch before...it looks so like what people in the late 60s/early 70s would think the "future" looks like. Not so long time ago, OldWorldJewellers were selling 7103's approx $1200 . Some of them were used as donor watches for 7806 Navi's , it was a good way to get a Valjoux 7740 . Too late with OldWorldJewellers now! |

Does anyone (a) have an old operating manual to my Long Playing Chronograph? If not, does anyone know how to set the date to this watch? As you can see from my photo, the date is btwn the 4 and 5 hour mark. Thanks |

no pic I can see, but the 7740 has no quick-set date feature, it sets the traditional way by advancing the hands. if it does not, then the date module is faulty, not an easy fix, had a watchmaker in Switzerland try for months, although Lester has the spare parts and I supplied those. Had to send it to Craig who - of course - managed to repair it. |

Thanks! The picture I was referring to was my original post above. In any case, here is a new picture with my new NATO strap. I'll give it a shot manually advancing the date using the hours, but that'll take forever! (it is currently on the 31st). Finally, any thoughts as to how I could obtain a copy (or original) of the Long Playing manual?
