Hi, I have just bought a 1969 Chrono-matic steel 2111 and was wondering if anyone could advise me in which direction you should wind this model on a watch winder ?? thanks

Please don't put this on a winder.

The automatic winding on these pieces is one of the more fragile elements and are not very easy to repair because of the problem of obtaining parts. Just manually wind it, or wind it and set it when you plan to wear it - much safer.

Im not going to wear it very often , won't I have issues with the lubricants becoming congealed ?

If it's been serviced with modern oils (Moebius Syntalube) then the problem is going to come from oils breaksing down with age and that's a predictable process regardless of usage.

A monthly wind will ensure that the oils don't migrate from where they are needed.

I've just purchased the watch and will send it to Breitling ASAP to access what work might be required to bring it up to scratch , many thanks

Don't send it to Breitling. Not sure where you are, but in most jurisdictions Breitling don't work on vintage pieces and where they do they charge a fortune.

Get in touch with member chronodeco (Craig) and see if he can help you out. He is the preferred watchmaker of the forum and has many, many satisfied customers. He's in the US but members from around the world use him.

:yeahthat
just a voice from Europe; more or less wherever you are in the world, Craig would be your best choice; a short search for chronodeco and/or Craig will show you examples and feedback.

I was told by my local dealer that Breitling would work on the watch but now I'm interested what Craig can do
