Greetings to all!

I have just purchased a Breitling Chronomat with a lovely aged dial. The serial number is: 508607 Can anyone please tell me the year of production on the piece? The dial states MERVOS, meaning that it was probably manufactured for the Mervos watch company, however it does have the Breitling name on the dial as well. Can anyone tell me the actual meaning of MERVOS on the dial?

Thanks!

Post a pic. Here's another Breitling Mervos chrono.

Paul - I can't seem to post photos on this site. I know the Mervos photo you sent but mine is totally different. Mine has the authentic Breitling logo and Mervos is written directly below the patent number.

you need to have your images hosted somewhere such as photobucket in order to post them... unfortunately this forum software doesn't allow image uploading.

Thanks but another user emailed me and was kind enough to suggest that I email him the photos and he would upload them for me. Would love to get your reactions!

Here's Joe's pic. Haven't seen this one before but looks like a Chronomat to me.

Thanks, Paul! I would appreciate any comments about the piece and also knowing the age of it based on the serial number, which I posted earlier.

The Breitling serial numbers don't go back that far but I would say sometime between 1940-1944. There's a great resource at:

I think the Mervos Breitling connection was likely like the later Wakmann Breitling connection in that there was some sort of agreement where Breitling made watches for the other. Your example looks really good though.

Thanks, Paul. I think you're right about the Mervos connection. I would appreciate comments from others, please. Great forum, by the way!
