The Breitling Watch Source Forums

Few years ago I bought this old worn down watch and I actually paid a small amount money for it
Bracelet sucks, crown gone, hands fallen off , chrome plating wears off, the works
I must have been nuts , right ?

But when you look at the back , something odd.. it says Breitling , geneve , 8142 , 1968
inside the caseback more surprises , again Breitling Geneve and the bracelet marking seems OK as well


Ive never seen one before or since and I am really curious to know , whats the verdict here ? and how ashamed of myself should I be ?

I know nothing about these quartz pieces, and Breitling sure did some weird things in the mid 70s, but I have to assume that the dial (and potentially therefore the movement) are replacements - an early failed quartz movement would hardly be a surprise. Case and bracelet markings look OK with the exception of the serial number - don't have any references in the office to validate the model number.
