I found this on a replica site where it was called the Breitling Navitimer Datograph. Size is a whopping 53mm x 47mm :shock:

It doesn't look like any Breitling I've ever seen but wondered if it was pure fantasy or was in fact based on a genuine watch, maybe a Heuer or Omega?

I'm intrigued as to what the inner scales with temperatures are all about. Any ideas?

Well I didn't check the books for this one, but.... it doesn't look like anything I have ever seen, and it is, well, hideous.

Case Shape is that of an Omega Dynamic.....defo not anything made by Breitling.

I haven't seen anything similar before either, and I'm willing to eat my hat (if I had one) if that's a Breitling...

Yep - the 'classic' 7 day 9 o'clock subdial is a bit of a giveaway.

Indeed. I missed that, just glanced at the design, but your eyes are a bit sharper than mine. :)

Guys, I didn't for one millisecond think this was a genuine Breitling, or even based on one. Reason for the post was that I couldn't believe the fakers just sat down with a sketch pad and dreamt this up so my curiosity was which watch it was based on.

Definitely looks like the Omega Dynamic was an inspiration for the case. Thanks Doc.

And with a bit of Googling (and reading that it actually says Telemeter not Tachymeter!), I've found what the inner scales are for. This from Neil's Chronomaster site...

Some chronographs have a telemeter scale as well. This allows you to measure the speed of sound in relation to the speed of light. For example, to judge how far away a storm is, you activate the counter when you see the lightning flash. You stop the counter when you hear the thunder. The indication on the telemeter scale that the chronograph hand is pointing to is the distance in kilometers. This may sound like a futile function but has invaluable practicalities in military applications where artillery forces can judge the distance of bombs that they are firing - or that are being fired at them!


Never seen this feature before and very few watches have it. And not one I've found has different scales for compensating for temperature. Maybe it has more Chinese/Russian provenance than Swiss! It may be a fake but I find this an interesting watch.
