It's fine, but have you checked that the seller will sell to you - didn't want to do an international deal for me.

Thanks Roff, I just heard you were sent the link to the auction as well

I have an international/USA shipping address , so I will have it shipped to Broomfield Colorado and pick it up next time I am there or have one of my collegues bring/ship it . Hope it wont be a problem for the seller

That'll work for you. Congratulations on the pick up.

Alaska to Colorado - so much easier than Alaska to Canada

personally I dont understand the 'no international' shipping. It basically excludes a very large %age of the collector community
I'll post some detailed pics when I receive it , possibly end of feb as I have some team members flying over to holland

In the future, you may consider using an American members mailing address that could/would forward it to Canada.

Shipping to some countries really is a pain. I sent a Chronomat limited edition to France with all the proper paperwork and French Customs would not release it without a retail bill of sale. Not being a business I don't usually provide a bill of sale only the paperwork required by the USPS. Well, after 30 days of going back and forth with French Customs (the buyer had the patience of Jobe) they just sent the watch back so I refunded the buyer with my apologies. I sold the watch to someone else stateside. I will not send anything to France again. All other shipments to Europe have been trouble free, even Italy. Plus, 90% of European buyers want some sort of manipulation of the Customs forms for tax purposes which I prefer not to do. That being said, there certainly is a better market in Europe for vintage pieces so not choosing to send internationally is a double edged sword.

the 'manipulation' is being asked to circumvent taxes and I fully understand , as here (The Netherlands) we pay 19% VAT over the sale price + shipping and then the shipping company charges a hefty 10% 'handling fee' for custom handling , all in all just add 30%+ on the sales price and you're 'set' . is this a criminal act ? possibly but if customs do not believe the declared value they do their own valuation and calculate duties and tax over that valuation but as far as I am aware this is all risk to the receiver , not the sender ?

On importing it 'in person' there's no duty/tax to be paid on used goods and no taxes on any purchase up to 450 euro

but I do get regular Q's as well , specifically from the UK buyers, if they have to pay any tax/duties . It seems a lot of people are still unfamiliar with the 'European Economic Union'

I expect that the sender is responsible for any documents that he fills out and signs. And some of us simply don't wish to lie.

Practically speaking, regarding the sender's risk of prosecution and penalties, I haven't a clue.

I think this is the same watch , seller made a good profit and I am quite happy with the price I paid . Its a strange world sometimes but the seller could have advertised it here on this forum ?
