text from auction :

Breitling Chronograph, Seriennummer 2020, vermutlich ein Einzelstück, da dieses Modell im Nummernverzeichnis von Benno Richters "Breitling die Geschichte einer großen Uhrenmarke" nicht gefunden habe. Diese Uhr wurde vor ca. 30 Jahren in Genf bei Frau Beatrice Breitling, Witwe von Willy Breitling, eingekauft. Briefverkehr liegt vor. Die Uhr wurde bei Sinn überholt. Das Plexiglas hat einen Sprung, siehe Foto. Das Band ist nicht Original. Vielleicht liege ich falsch, aber ich glaube diese Uhr ging nie in Serie. Sollte jemand dieses Modell kennen, würde ich mich über ein mail freuen.

Am 06.12.11 hat der Verkäufer die folgenden Angaben hinzugefügt:

Auf vielfachen Wunsch habe ich jetzt noch weitere Fotos der Uhr dazugestellt. Deckel innen, Deckel außen und Uhrwerk. An dieser Stelle Danke an der regen Anteilnahme. Ich habe viele interessante mails zur Uhr erhalten. Es handelt sich hierbei offenbar um ein Einzelstück, weiteres wird in diesem interessanten threads behandelt

Weiters habe ich noch eine Menge Prospektmaterial bei ebay eingestellt, die ich damals von Frau Breitling erhalten habe. Benno Richter hat mich aufgrund dieser Bekanntschaft für sein Buch kontaktiert.

Am 08.12.11 hat der Verkäufer die folgenden Angaben hinzugefügt:

Dank einem Hinweis von Travis 1963 (Verfasser der oben angeführten, auf hohen Niveau verfassten threads) habe ich ein Bild dieser Uhr in dem Buch "Armbanduhren" von Gisbert L. Brunner und Christian Pfeiffer-Belli entdeckt (Seite 64). Der Prototyp ist also echt. Hier möchte ich, auch wegen seiner literarischen Qualität, 2 Anmerkungen aus den oben genannten threads zitieren: "Manchmal bedarf es nur der Tugend Geduldsamkeit bis der Markt gesuchte Exemplare an Land schwemmt. Diese schöne Breitling ist kein gewöhnliches Exemplar sondern wahrscheinlich der Ausgangspunkt einer ganzen Generation von Uhren für die britischen Streitkräfte. Pfeifer-Belli zeigte sie am Rande in seinem Standardwerk und seither ist sie ein Rätsel"

Sie möchten eine echte Breitling, die sonst keiner hat, dann ist dies vermutlich die einzige Gelegenheit.

Done a little bit of research on this one and I am satisfied that it's real.

I was also rather hoping that it would slide under the radar :evil:

emailed with seller, very nice, very helpful guy, has a letter from Beatrice Breitling about the transaction (apparently there were more watches Willy left to his wife, "a basket full" goes the story, hope seller emails me if he sells any more...)

i've not had my Christmas bonus yet , but I already spent it on a Snap-On case full of Snap-On tools (different hobby) so I wont set my snipe , at least not very high ! , for this watch :D

Nice watch, but even if is authentic wouldn't that be quite a risky buy considering that information on the existence of the watch is not easily available thus decreasing it's marketability amongst collectors in general?
