Hi, just wanted to know the relation between number of watches and serial numbers in Breitlings. For example when 1954 is 11996 watches manufactured by minusing the serial numbers,, does it mean that serial numbers were shared across the product range or only by 806"s? So considering 806's in 1954, were the serial numbers only for 806's or were they shared across other watches Breitling manufactured too(if any)? For example, with Rolex, is almost impossible to tell the number of watches for a model by serial number ranges because they were shared across the product range.

You can't use that logic.

There is only one serial number range for Breitling and some were allocated to chronos and some non chronos - sequential serial numbers could be years apart because of that. It also explains the gaps from year to year.

The serial numbers are for all models produced by Breitling that year, but number calculations will be inaccurate. Also, as Bill has hypothesised, dating may well be from when cases were procured, not when watches were cased up.
