Hi guys,

I got two pieces of conflicting information regarding vintage storage and thought I better ask the experts since I'm an absolute acolyte in these matters. I apologize if this is somehere on the board-I just couldn't find it.

My two questions are: I have a 1970 vintage navitimer 1806 in absolute NOS condition that I don't wear and just want to keep it for display purposes. Should I get it serviced then let it wind down leave it as is for 5 years and repeat or can I just leave as is (without getting service) regardless of not having service? What about winding should I wind once in a while or just leave it?

Thanks any help is appreciated!!!

If you have it serviced then wind it at least once a month.

Theoretically you can avoid servicing it as long as it is never operated without servicing, but some of the gaskets can break down and cause really nasty residues, not to mention allowing moisture in to the case so too much risk for me.
