Post subject:  Can't Identify this Breitling

My father passed away and left me a very old Breitling watch and so far I haven't been able to find out anything about it. I have shown the watch to several watch dealers and the only thing they know about it is that it's a 1930's Breitling. On the face of the watch it says F.I.G.C. I looked up FIGC and it seems to be an Italian soccer team whom subsequently won the world cup in 1934 and 1938. Maybe the watch was given to players after one of those wins? If anyone could tell me about this watch and how much it's worth I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm sorry, but it is categorically not from the 1930s. Breitling didn't move to Geneva until 1952 so there is no way that Geneve (French for Geneva) would be on the dial of a 1930s watch. Can you show us photos of the inside and the outside of the caseback please?

I'm glad I joined the forums, I knew I should get a second opinion. Here are some photos.

Serial number is very late 1956, and although it is an unusual way of putting the serial number on the watch the whole thing looks correct. Model # 1194 is not one I'm familiar with, but the watch is consistent with the description in Richter's book and there'snothing obviously flawed with it.

In this condition, value is maybe $600 - $700 but a clean and service will do wonders for it.

Do you know what the F.I.G.C on it is by any chance?

No idea I'm afraid. There were a number of commemorative pieces commissioned from Breitling and I assume thais is another example.

Ah ok, thank you so much for your time. I'm going to have it cleaned up and maybe get a new band. :)

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) (Italian: Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio; F.I.G.C.)

They didnt just won in '34 & '38 but also in '82 & '06

Possibly made and given out to their members or orderable for their members ?

 Sherlock R. Dracha, great detective work.
the serial number stamping is different from all I´ve seen, interestingly, but clearly an authentic 1956 piece, that adds to our knowledge base.
dial is very similar to some Giro d´Italia we had recently.
congrats, Julian, nice !
