Hi,

This is nearly done on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SS-Vintage-A ... 519b1d0729

Does it look okay?

This is the first Aviation I've seen with military markings.

Any ideas?

Thanks

That is a Breitling case.

That is an Aviation dial (but Albert Wajs was not allowed to use the Breitling name, so this is a not a legal marriage).

I can't read what's on the movement bridge, but I don't think it says Breitling or Aviation/O&W. Can you read it?

I've looked for that logo before. It's a presentation watch and not military. I think the Arabic script is the name of a Gulf Sheikh, but I don't think I ever discovered the crest associated with a country, Emirate, or Sheikhdom. Khanate, either.

Can't read the bridge at all.

Looks like the crest is for the UAE Ministry of defence. ?

I just googled images for "Arabic crest" turns up straight away.

All I can read on the bridge is Seventeen 17 Jewels - the first two rows, not really helpful.

Yeah, I was bidding on this one for a while. I asked the seller about the Breitling case and crown and he said it was all original. I have my doubts but since Ollech & Wajs did get some of Breitling's spare parts I was thinking (optimistically maybe) there was some possibility it might be ok. That dial configuration is found usually with a plain crown and back on O&W watches. It does have the correct, plain, Aviation movement which is unmarked so that would probably lead you to believe if the movement was unmarked the rest should be also. Still, I think it will sell for a decent amount. Seller also has another Breitling with UAE markings that appears fine.

The Rolex tribe has long been pondering this one, too. [See: http://stefanomazzariol.blogspot.com/se ... bic%20logo, but I don't read Arabic, which is pretty clear on some of his examples.]

The current UAE website crest has a flag in the center instead of the dhow pictured on this crest. It's the dhow I find interesting. I wonder if this one dates to pre-UAE days and might be the crest of one of the Emirates before union. I see another one posted for Abu Dhabi, which would have been replaced by a later one.

But, we're talking about crests and not watches anymore. Sorry.
