Post subject: | seeking photo of ca.1850 pocket watch |
I am looking for an image of a gold pocket watch, ca. 1850. Mine was recently stolen and I am looking for images of similar ones. It was a Savonnette, Breitling-Laederich, Chaux-de-Fonds Suisse. The cover had a sort of small design in, I think, black with a very small diamond or 2 on one side (the side where the keys would have been used). The other side had the same black design but no diamonds (presumably so you knew which side the keys went in). It had a number 28690. I don't know if each watch was unique, or if there is any kind of catalogue from that period, or if anyone owns a similar one and has an image. Thank you for any help you can provide. |

Cases were produced separately from movements back then so unfortunately there is unlikely to be anything similar available. Essentially buyers chose their watch and then chose the case that they wanted it in. |

Thank you for this information; I didn't know that. Presumably Breitling-Laederlich also made the cases (since so many B-L case si have seen online look very similar). But I understand there is no catalogue of B-L cases, so all I can hope for is that someone else owns a very similar one. If anyone is aware of any forums or individuals where I can try to get more info, please let me know. thanks. |
