not sure if this would not be better placed in the Franken/Fake section, but the movement seems to be the correct Venus 179 with correct script logo, dial is - at least - refinished, case is dated to pre 1944, did not find similar "fancy lug" examples. interesting.

. . . that dial is not at all genuine and a more 1950s design. The script "Breitling" tells us it was done in Argentina by the shop we're used to seeing.

That is not at all a 762 case. With that serial number, it needs to match the catalog examples from the period. This looks like ones we've been recently presented and discussed as possible "Serie Limitee." There must be a source for these somewhere, since they are showing up regularly. I have postulated previously, and I'm sticking with it for now, that the Argentines are good researchers and they use Richter to get the appropriate numbering for their creations. Unlike the Chinese (who seem to work from examples), the Argentines get the reference numbers right.

The handset is horrible.

Which leaves us with the Venus 179 movement. That script Breitling matches the examples for Venus 179 and 185 in the Esembl-O-Graf chronograph guide. I'm inclined to think the watch was built new around the original movement.

Movement is the reason why I did not place it among the Chronographe Suisse FrankenFakes in the Replica Section, was sure at first glance the bridge logo was wrong too, but then found an example posted by Eitan in May 2010:

I fear Bill is correct that some of the casefakers in Argentina are doing quite an impressive job with the case inscriptions, see "Dawhora 799" et al.
