Gone already. I'm puzzled by what looks like marks of hand scrape on the dial - I don't quite see how it could have happened with the subdial hands in place. Anyone have any insights on those circumferential marks? Kronometer Stockholm was a retailer, I take it? That seller is indeed problematic in my experience - interesting watches counterbalanced by misleading descriptions and sophisticated frankens, and a frequency of needle-in-a-haystack rarities that defies probability. We have had more than a few conversations regarding his listings on another forum I frequent. |

Kronometer Stockholm was a retailer from the 40s Remember at the ww2 Sweden was neutral and that's the reason for finding lots of fine watches from this period The firm Kronometer Stockholm was actually selling lots of fine brands branded this way My guess is that the marks is from someone trying to remowe the Swedish logo but it's only a guess I think this is actually ok its a pair to this  Sweden it was UN members that went to Israel to help during the crises that make it more likely to find a watch like this in this part of the world And it's not widely known abaut Kronometer Stockholm. Well this piece is post WW2 anyway, but to me that makes the Kronometer Stockholm more acceptable. If this were 1942 - 1945 dated I would be more concerned because Breitling weren't producing many watches in that timeframe as most production was going to flight clocks. I think that the price that it ended up selling for ($2,900) is reasonable, but also reflects that it isn't the most desirable 786. |

Regarding the streaks, note that they are completely circumferential, and there are two - one at the end of the hour hand and another at the tip of the minute hand, as if the watch had run for some time with the tips of the hands scraping the dial. Hi this was the original purchase papers from one of my navitimers  regarding KS founded in 1930 started to brand watches from the beginning later on they let the original name stay on the watch on the internet you cant find a lot of this firm but they was selling lots of different watches but most was pocket watch regarding the dial yes you are spot on that make sens the watch may once lost crystal and so on its a old watch and lots of thing may ocur under that time serial put the watch in this post from 1945 thats the reason to talk abaut the ww2 in the erlier post sorry if bad spelling as i am dysletic regards jonas |
