I am sure you all are tired of people asking weather or not items online are real or not... but here is another one. I know absolutely nothing about vintage watches. I am looking into spending under 1k on a used vintage automatic watch. I really like the look of this watch but figured if i am going to be spending my money i may as well check to see if it looks like a real watch.

thanks for your time in advance.

Are their any online dealers that specialize in authentic vintage watches? And is my 1k price realistic or am I better off saving till I have more to spend?

Thanks
Taam

Assuming 1,000 USD you will be able to find a 3 hand watch for that price fairly comfortably. Ebay is still the biggest market, just be aware that there are a lot of fake / franken watches so read some of the threads here to build your knowledge and ask before you buy.

http://www.chrono.com typically offers a good selection, although prices quoted are sometimes quite optimistic & negotiable.
ebay is still the platform of choice, although the percentage of fakes/frankens is extremely high (This applies to chrono24 too, although to a much lesser extent).

if you do some research, as you said you plan to do, you will be able to weed out the worst fakes yourself.

When you find a piece you like: post pics here & learn even more.

regarding your 1k "target": an authentic 3-hand (like the junk you posted, only the "real deal") should be much lower than this, with luck you will even be able to find nice Breitling chronographs for this sum.

I assume that you mean chrono24.com rather than chrono.com???
