I will admit to you right away that I am new to vintage watches. I have always loved watches, but now that I have graduated from college and have some real money to spend on a watch, I am looking for an affordable vintage timepiece. I am looking at Zeniths, Ulysse Nardins, Gerrard P's, and Old Breitlings. I recently found some Breitlings I like, but am wondering if they are real or not. I am fairly certain the black Chrono is fake, and the little one looks too good to be real. The pics are a little blurry, so I am not sure. Can you please help me out...

Watch No1 has the "venus 170 " movement, going off the "minute register pawl" it would appear to be an early movement, whether it's too early for a bridge engraving ,i'm unsure about. The serial No puts it at 1945, and 178 is correct for a Breitling with a 170 movement. The caseback engraving is aftermarket,as is i m o, the dial script.
The second watch has never been near the Breitling factory, i'm fairly certain.

shows good taste. afraid you will find UN and GP even more challenging as Breitling; tons of junk fakes and no Breitlingsource foum. Never, ever think about buying those from untrusted sources, especially UNs from South America or Australia, several US sellers are also quite active in this area.

your pics are fine, watches are not.

:yeahthat
although the true goods are still asleep in a different timezone, these are quite easy to call.
No. 1, the "178": massive doubts. font and spacing of model and serial numbers seem wrong, logo inscription on caseback definitely aftermarket, crudely done, very typical for our friends from Argentina. hands definitely wrong, dial not original.

No.2: typical Argentina junk, I´m afraid, no matter where it is sold from ?

Never mind the obviously wrong engraving on number one anyone care to explain how a 30 minute chronograph dial will work with a 45 minute gear in the movement???? I guess that's why there's no hand on it, I mean at least make the effort to fake a movement that matches the blinking watch

Second one has all the signs of South America as WatchFred says, script and block style wording on the same watch is always a concern.
