Can't tell if the ref. number is legit because I don't have sources but according to my eyes it does look okay and consistent... a movement shot would definitely help though... a very nice dress piece!

Richter describes the 4501 as "round case, small second", so this seems correct.
Nice piece, although, imho, priced quite optimistically ?

Optimistic? I'd say insane!

:yeahthat , but, as I hurt a new user´s feelings yesterday by being overly sarcastic about his fake watch, I was extremely cautious in formulating my opinion.

$300-$500 watch probably from the late 1950's early 1960's.

Definitely a correct exterior, probably an OK movement as these aren't worth seeking out hard to find movements for, price, well, I'd pay it for a job lot of 10 of them.

This brings me to a question I have....

What is a price range I should be seeking out for a late 40's thru early 60's 18k dress peice? I was thinking that anything under $2500 would fit in my budget fine, but from the sounds of it, even $1000 might be too much to pay for a three hand vintage Breitling.

Thanks for the help guys.

Not all pieces are created equal, but yes, even with current gold prices, sub $1,000 should be the expectation.

It's gold plated not 18k (stainless back). Anything over $500 is too much.

Did Breitling make any solid 18k peices from this time period?

Plenty, and that's what my sub $1,000 comment was about.

Gotcha...just wanted to clarify since the vintage thing is new to me. Still need to order my Richter book from Amazon so I can do some of my own research.

Looking through ebay and chrono24 I dont see a whole lot of options when it comes to vintage Lings. Do you fellas have any suggestions as to other trusted sites that can be browsed?

You don't trust anyone - you find a piece and then post pictures here!
